HP Notebook - 15s-du1034tu
I purchased my HP laptop with model number 15s-du1034TU in the year 2020, and it came with a lifetime MS activation key. However, today, I made some hardware changes by adding a 256GB NVMe SSD. Consequently, the technician installed a new copy of Windows 10, resulting in the loss of my MS product key. I am now uncertain about whether my laptop still has a genuine licensed Windows version, as it did previously. I kindly request your assistance in recovering my MS product key. Thank you.

Hi:

Changing a hard drive should not remove the Windows product key as the key is encrypted in your notebook's BIOS chip on the motherboard.

Download and install the free Showkey Plus app from the Microsoft Store and it will show you the Windows OEM product key in the BIOS and the version of Windows the key is good for.

The product specs indicate that your notebook came with W10 Home Single Language from HP.

I have installed Showkeyplus and inserted the OEM key in the Microsoft product key field, but it is showing that the token is not found. This method is not working; please assist me with another method.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to help you because that should have worked.

I suggest that you either:

Take the notebook back to the shop where they did the work and have them activate Windows for you or contact Microsoft for further assistance.
