Last Tuesday was April 13, 2021 -- the 2nd Tuesday of the month.

At 10 AM Pacific on each "2nd Tuesday", Microsoft releases security-updates for Windows 10.

When your computer "calls-home", those updates are download and partially installed.

So, the next time you restart Windows, it may take a few MINUTES after entering your password for Windows to complete the installation of the security-updates.

 

How long did you wait, while seeing that "black-screen"?   Try waiting a longer time.

 

Does your computer have a lamp that lights-up whenever the disk-drive is active? If so, is that lamp randomly blinking, or is it "solidly" on?  Any light indicates that the disk-drive is working, as Windows is restarting.  Going "dark", and "permanently" staying "dark", is a hint that Windows has a problem.
