Hi @Radiuss,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing two main issues with your HP laptop: frequent performance drops while gaming and being prompted for a BIOS administrator password you never set. Let's address both:

Performance Drops While Gaming

Frequent lag and FPS drops can be caused by several factors, including:

Overheating: High temperatures can cause thermal throttling, where your CPU and GPU reduce their speed to cool down, leading to FPS drops.

  • Solution: Ensure your laptop has good ventilation. Clean the fans and vents, and consider using a cooling pad.

Background Processes: Background applications can consume resources, causing your games to lag.

  • Solution: Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check for any unnecessary programs running in the background and close them.

Outdated Drivers: Outdated graphics drivers can cause performance issues.

  • Solution: Update your graphics drivers to the latest version from the manufacturer's website.

Power Settings: Laptops often have power-saving features that can limit performance.

  • Solution: Set your laptop to "High Performance" mode in the power settings.

Hardware Issues: Failing hardware components, such as RAM or the hard drive, can cause performance problems.

  • Solution: Run hardware diagnostics using HP's built-in tools or third-party software

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
