HP OfficeJet 6954 All-in-One Printer

In HP utility, when trying to connect to the mini-mac, I get the message "Unable to communicate with the selected device.  It may have been turned off, or other wise disconnected."  In system settings on the mini-mac it shows the 6954 as the default pinter and as idle with a green dot.  why does it not connect? My operating system is Ventura 13.3.1.

I have turned off both printer and computer off and restarted them.  I have tried to update firmware and software but unable.  I recently updated my Mini-mac to Sonoma OS14.  Prior to that I was OS12.  At that time I could scan from my OJ6954 to my mini-mac and it would work.  I used to go to the HP folder in Applications and select HP utility then select scan to computer.  Now when I go to HP utilities, it shows this:

The computer shows the printer, but it is not communicating, whereas the printer shows I am connected to my network and everything looks fine except that I cannot scan to my computer.   When I go to Easy scan in Applications, this is what shows, but does not work:

I cannot download from the CD that came with the computer as it shows HP easy start and Documents icons.  what is the problem and the path to correct it?
