My computer is so far zoomed in I can’t log on to try to zoom it out. I can’t do anything with the computer because it’s so far zoomed in. I don’t know how it got so far zoomed in. I was wondering if there was anything I could do or try to fix my computer? Any tips?

I know that you know that HP manufactures and sells many thousands of computers.

Operating System versions, even for Windows, spans everything from XP (and even older) to the latest Versions of Windows 10.  Specialty systems may run abridged versions of Windows - and some computers have been installed with Linux.

Without any context at all,

I can offer the following:

"Zooming" when used with a browser, for example, can be a result of having clicked (repeatedly) Cntl and the "plus" key to the point where everything looks huge.  To fix, click Cntrl key and the "minus" key (as many times as it takes to reduce the size of the web page).  This type of Zooming does not impact the logon screen.

Zooming can be the result of having clicked on (started) the Magnifier - this feature in anything before Windows 10 could result in some pretty awful visuals, including (of course) the magnified screen and perhaps flickering, phasing, and other unpleasant "things on the screen".  The magnifier, to my knowledge, does not impact the logon screen.  (I could be wrong about that, of course.)

Zooming can be the result of the graphics card (or at least the driver - software - for the graphics) having failed.  In this case, the computer may default to the lowest resolution available (like that used in the older systems when a computer is started in  "Safe Mode").  Particularly if you are not expecting it, this can look like "zoomed in".  This kind of issue might impact the logon screen.

Beyond that, I cannot answer your question.

So someone has a chance to help you,

I do suggest

  1. You post (tell us) your computer full model name (or product number),
  2. Your Operating System and version,
  3. When the problem started, (were you logged in at the time?)
  4. and if you know whether computer was updating at the time this issue started.

Find your Product

See:  HP Notebook PCs - How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

OR

  • Open Support Home
  • Enter the full model name
  • When the website opens, select category Product Information
  • Look for the Specifications for your computer
  • The Product number may be listed in the Specifications document
