Hi @Monika1996,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 15s 1155G7 laptop is displaying black lines on the screen and is not working properly, this could be due to a few different issues. Here’s a systematic approach to troubleshooting the problem:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Turn Off the Laptop:

  • Shut down the laptop completely.

Unplug and Remove Battery:

  • If your laptop has a removable battery, unplug the power cord and remove the battery.

Hold Power Button:

  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.

Reconnect and Power On:

  • Reinsert the battery (if removed) and plug the power cord back in. Turn on the laptop and check if the issue persists.

2. Check for External Display Issues

Connect to an External Monitor:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using the appropriate cable (HDMI, VGA, etc.).

Check Display on External Monitor:

  • If the external monitor displays correctly without black lines, the issue might be with your laptop’s screen or its connections.

3. Check Display Settings and Graphics Drivers

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager (right-click on Start menu and select Device Manager).
  • Expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics driver, and select Update driver.
  • Follow the prompts to search for and install any updates.

Adjust Display Settings:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings. Ensure the resolution and refresh rate are set to the recommended values for your laptop screen.

4. Perform a BIOS Reset

Enter BIOS/UEFI:

  • Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the Esc or F10 key (depending on your model) to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup.

Load Default Settings:

  • Look for an option to Load Setup Defaults or Reset to Default. Apply these settings and exit the BIOS, saving changes.

5. Inspect Physical Connections

Check Screen Connections:

  • If you're comfortable working with hardware, you can check the internal connections of the laptop’s display. Ensure that the cables connecting the screen to the motherboard are securely connected.

Inspect for Physical Damage:

  • Look for any visible signs of damage to the screen or internal components.

6. Run HP Diagnostics

HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant tool if it's installed on your laptop. It can run diagnostics to check for hardware issues.

HP Hardware Diagnostics:

  • You can also access HP’s hardware diagnostics by turning on the laptop and pressing Esc to enter the startup menu. Then select F2 to run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
