I just acquired a HP Pavillion 500 Series desktop. I've got it completely set up, but have no sound. I've tried updating the drivers and I get the message no audio output device is installed. On my task bar where the speaker icon is, there is a red x and when I hover over the icon, I get the same message. I've been able to find out that the sound card is an Integrated IDT 92HD73E Audio. I can't find one anywhere, or know what can be substituted. I know the person I got the POC from didn't remove anything, so I'm guessing the card just went bad. I have a pair of external speakers that I know for sure work. Anyone know anything about this issue? Thanks!

Hi:
First see if installing the W10 IDT audio driver gets the sound to work for you. Restart the PC after installing the driver.
6.10.6504.0

If that doesn't work, you will have to buy a W10 compatible PCIe x1 sound card if your PC has a PCie x1 expansion slot.
The IDT audio is an integral part of the motherboard, not an add-on card.

Paul,
Thank you brother!. That worked. I tried going through my device manager to do that very thing but always got the message no audio output device, so I could never proceed any further to update the audio driver through the device manager. I'm going to have a beer in your honor with dinner. Thanks again!
