Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

To keep short - hard drive crapped out and I lost everything - bought same like hard drive size and everything.  Bios recognizes and make active. Tried using a recovery stick I made off my HP laptop but when I tried to install it on this desktop - it partially installs but when reboots it then stops and freezes at a light blue colored screen - the install won't complete.  I am thinking I need the actual recovery discs for this pc however I do not see them on HP's site.  It appears you have to pay to talk to HP since my pc is out of warranty by a year as well.  Any advice here that I can check.  Maybe I have BIOS set wrong for this PC....Thanks
