Hi @KB265

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your brand-new HP 27" All-in-One computer's keyboard isn't working but the mouse is, the issue is likely tied to pairing, power, or driver recognition. Let's walk through a focused recovery to restore keyboard functionality.

Step-by-Step: Fix Non-Responsive Keyboard on HP 27" All-in-One

1. Confirm Keyboard Type and Connection

  • If it's a wireless keyboard, check:
    • Batteries are fresh and correctly installed.
    • The USB receiver (dongle) is securely plugged into the PC.
    • The keyboard’s power switch is turned on (if present).
  • If it's a Bluetooth keyboard, go to:
    • Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices
    • Click Add device > Bluetooth and follow pairing instructions.

Some HP All-in-Ones ship with Bluetooth keyboards that require manual pairing during first setup.

2. Test with Another USB Port

  • Move the USB receiver to a different USB port on the PC.
  • Wait 10 seconds and press keys to test response.

Faulty or inactive ports can prevent proper detection.

3. Check Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X > select Device Manager.
  • Expand Keyboards.
  • If no keyboard is listed:
    • Click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  • If listed but with a warning icon:
    • Right-click > Uninstall device, then restart the PC.

This forces Windows to reload the keyboard driver.

4. Run Keyboard Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Keyboard troubleshooter.

This checks for driver conflicts and input recognition issues.

5. Test with External Keyboard

  • Connect a known working USB keyboard.
  • If it works, the issue is isolated to the bundled keyboard.

This helps confirm whether the problem is hardware or software related.

6. Update BIOS and Chipset Drivers

Visit:
HP 27 All-in-One Drivers and Firmware

Select your operating system and install:

  • BIOS Update Utility
  • Chipset Driver
  • Wireless Keyboard Driver (if listed)

These updates improve device detection and resolve low-level input issues.

Let me know how the system responds after checking the connection and running the troubleshooter. If needed, I can guide you through pairing steps or checking for firmware updates specific to your keyboard model.

You're doing everything right—this sequence should help restore full keyboard functionality.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
