I was advised that my BIOS is out-of-date. However, when I attempt to download it, I immediately get a message that the download  is "closed".

Hi @swithrow,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering issues when trying to download the BIOS update for your system and seeing a message that the download is "closed," there are a few steps you can take to resolve this:

Check Download Source:

  • Ensure that you are downloading the BIOS update from an official and trusted source, typically the manufacturer's website. For HP laptops, this would be the HP Support website.

Browser Compatibility:

  • Sometimes, browser settings or extensions can interfere with downloads. Try using a different web browser to see if you can initiate the download without issues.

Network Restrictions:

  • If you are on a managed network (such as at work or school), there may be restrictions in place that prevent certain types of downloads. Contact your network administrator to verify if this is the case and request access if necessary.

Clear Browser Cache and Cookies:

  • Clearing your browser's cache and cookies can sometimes resolve download issues. This helps ensure that you are retrieving the latest data from the website.

Temporarily Disable Antivirus/Firewall:

  • Your antivirus software or firewall settings could be blocking the download. Temporarily disable them (make sure your system is protected by disconnecting from the internet temporarily if needed) and attempt the download again.

Try a Different Device or Network:

  • If possible, try downloading the BIOS update from a different device or network to rule out local issues with your current setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
