Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a brand new OMEN by HP Obelisk Desktop 875-0035qe that came with Windows 10  installed on a 238 GB SSD drive. The other 2 TB SATA drive is meant to be used for all other data, but everything is being saved to the smaller hard drive which gets full after installing two Steam games.

I talked to two HP technical support representatives; I was told to reinstall Windows 10 to Drive D and not use Drive C for anything. If that is the case, why build and configure the HP Omen gaming desktop this way? It should work properly out of the box.

I am brand new to Windows 10. I tried the Change Where New Content Is Saved feature changed storage destinations from C: to D:, but all data and installations still are saved on C:  There has to be an easy answer to this.D9G6ivg.jpg

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

I would not install the OS on the very slow platter HDD. Your PC will run much slower than it does now.

I would do a custom install of any large software such as games. This should allow you to install on the "D" drive instead of the "C" drive.

This creates a OS recovery snag because you have program installations spread across two disks. You would have to reinstall the software if either disk fails or you reinstall the OS on drive "C".
