Thanks for all the good advice. I will start the process tomorrow. Excited yet always worried 😉

By the way - given that all SATAs are likely to be used, how do I go on hooking up the new drive to clone it? Should I temporarily unplug the other drive with the 1 TB (HHD - I believe)? Do the cloning and then replace the olld SSD with the new one.

Thanks

I've not had this dilemma as I was using USB-to-SATA converter, so if you do not have one, you would need to disconnect temporarily your 1 TB drive.

I also cloned via Acronis Bootable Media (so not within Windows). But I can see that Acronis (as an example) now offers Windows mode as well,

Familiarise yourself with both options under Step-by-step guide in https://kb.acronis.com/content/56634 and choose accordingly.

And it's really easier than it looks,

Hi  and good morning. I just wanted you to know that on 12/24 I did the cloning of the drive and everything is working welll now. I followed your instructions. I chose not to do anything with the Recovery files. Instead, I am saving the old hard drive in case of an emergency.

I very much appreciate your awesome help and lowering my concerns about doing this. Now I am setup for a long time, with overkilled 1 TB SSD haha.

Thanks so much!

Glad I could be of some help!

And if I may: please go through all the relevant OS maintenance routine (chkdsk, DISM, SFC etc.) to ensure that Windows installation remains stable.

More here (as needed, obviously):

Plus ensure that HP Software Assistant reports no new drivers, updates etc.

And if any of your programs / applications throw funny messages, just get it repaired / reinstalled.

And you're done.
