PC will not start at all after minor security update. All I get is a yellow light and fans.

I have rest CMOS by removing battery and reinstalling it after an hour. Hard power reset. I have tried booting from a ISO image. I have reseated all installed hardware. I have tried all keys, esc, F1, F2, F10, F12, Delete. Nothing workings to get even into the bios.

I did not try and update bios so that shouldn't have changed it was a simple security update.

Greetings @Lamecranberry

Correct me if I am wrong but it seems like a Windows security update has cooked your PC.

You can't get to the HP UEFI Startup Menu or the BIOS and obviously Windows will not load. Have you tried repeatedly tapping the "ESC" key at startup?

Your problem is very unusual unless the Windows update included a HP firmware update which has caused catastrophic MB problems.

Contact HP if the PC is in warranty. I don't know if HP will do anything in this situation.

Or have a local PC Tech take a look.

Your PC seems to have a low level: component, BIOS, or MB problem.

There is no way, I know of, to fix this type of problem in a Forum.

I forgot to mention that the 1st time it restated it beeped loudly 4 or 5 time then nothing. Not sure if that means anything at all. And yeah I tried the ESC keep. Nothing happened.

HP Desktop BIOS error codes can be reviewed at this Site.

A continuous 4 or 5 beep error code is not listed at the above site.

A continuous eight beep error code is a BIOS problem.

Might have been 8 I didn't exactly count. Any way to install or repair a bios?

A BIOS recovery might be possible.

I need the specific PC Product Number to check for a recent BIOS update.

A HP BIOS recovery should work if your PC has video and USB function.

You're getting BIOS error codes at startup so trying a BIOS recovery might work.

Sorry for the late reply. SO I tried the recovery tool and its doing nothing. I reseated the CPU, removed the and tested both ram, and even took out the M.2 so its just the ram and MB. Im still not sure what hotkeys work on this model. Ive tried the Windows Key and V and B and just B and V as well as all F keys, and esc. Maybe there is another combination Im missing?

Oh and no clue why my display name changed. HP support site is kind of a mess.

Greetings @Lamecranberry

Are you also @DragemD?

The "Windows" key plus the "B" key would be the startup method to attempt a BIOS recovery.

You would then need to try a HP USB BIOS Recovery flash drive to attempt a BIOS repair if the PC has video and USB function.

Give me a HP product number per previous request to check for a recent BIOS update. Or use your product number to find a recent BIOS update for your PC.

A recent BIOS update should be able to create a HP USB BIOS recovery drive when this update is executed on a different PC.

Start your PC with the HP USB BIOS recovery flash drive connected to the PC as follows:.

Press and hold down the "Windows Key" and the "B" key at the same time. Now simultaneously press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds. Then only release the power button.

The BIOS recovery should start.

Yes both are me. No clue why it changed names.

Here are the numbers.

PN: 6YQ59AA#ABA

MN:M01-F0024

MB: TPC-F124-MT

I've done as you say and created the USB recovery. It created a thumb drive with 3 folders. EFI, Hewlett Packard and HP.

No .exe file at root so not sure if I did this correctly.

Each folder does have sub folders with a series of Bios old/new folders and those have .bin, .efi, .esg files.

Installed the thumb drive on each of the 6 or so USB ports and tried the Windows & B key plus power for each. Nothing happens aside from a yellow/greenish light and the fans spinning up. No video output at all. Ive tried both the VGA and the HDMI ports and its the same. No signal at all.

Again the MB is just the board, CPU and ram. Nothing else is attached as Im trying to eliminated as much hardware as I can.

If I remove the ram also the MB lets out a series of long and short beeps telling me it has a ram issue. Reinstalled the ram and no beeps. Just the fans.
