Hello,

I would like to create a recovery disk. And would like to know what type of medium I should use. The PC has 2 usb ports on the front of the tower, and has a dvd rw drive.  So should I use a usb flash drive, dvd rw , dvd r, cd r,  or cd rw? Also the boot order came set as follows.

1) windows boot manager

2) usb floppy/cd

3) usb hard drive

4) Ipv4 Realtek PCIe GBe family controller

5) Ipv6 Realtek PCIe GBe family controller

So just confused what I should do. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

                                         Thanks

Yes, use a usb flash drive to make Recovery Media. No need to change anything in BIOS. HP machines will default to hard drive no matter how you set it. When need arises to boot from USB flash or cd/dvd you will need to tap F9 for boot options immediatey after power on to set the one time boot option choice. Some machines you have to tap Esc immediately after powering on, then F9 from the menu. Either way may work on your machine.

Hi sir,

I would recommend you to recover your pc through USB,

It works much faster than a DVD-Player and it has a greater chance to succeed

You should also go to the bios and change the boot order to

1) usb hard drive

2) usb floppy/cd

3) windows boot manager

4) Ipv4 Realtek PCIe GBe family controller

5) Ipv6 Realtek PCIe GBe family controller

and set it back to default after.

OK just to be clear I can use a usb flash drive to make my recovery disk? Or would I have to use a usb external hard drive? Or can I use either or ?  Also if I change my boot order now to the recommended order. Can I just leave like that. Or should I only change it when or if I need to  recover the pc? I have read that the pc will go through the order until it finds the device that has the data on it. if that makes any sense.

       Thanks
