Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased to PC about 15 months ago, with MS Windows 10 preinstalled.  For the first time I recently attempted to burn a DVD to send data to an Australian contact.  The DVD  drive failed to recognise the DVD.  I conducted tests and found the Drive to be defective.  I the purchased an external drive but it also failed to work.  I have followed your chat instructions and could not find the Drive listed in the Boot source.  I have also went to Device Manager and found both the installed DVD and External DVD drive listed.  I uninstalled and reinstalled but nothing changed.  I noted that there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation (!) mark on the drives.  I also have your Diagnostics  system installed and it finds nothing to report.

I am reluctant to alter the Registry as I am not sufficiently experienced to risk it.DVD Drives.JPG

Please help.

@Aherlow,

Simply answered, you need software to burn any CD/DVD media. WIN 10 does not furnish it.

Playback      Free Burning software   (1) CDBurnerXP     (2) FreeISOburner    (3)  Express Burn

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..

I regret that I did not make my request clear.

1 I use Roxio burner.  It functions on my old PC.  My old PC gave a lot of trouble so I purchased a new HP last year

2 I checked the Boot directory  and the DVD Drive was Not Listed.

3 I checked Device Manager and found both internal DVD and external DVD drives listed but has a warning symbol on them.  See jpeg attached.

4 Again, I state,  I am uncomfortable modifying the Registry files.

5 I installed and ran your Diagnostics  system but it gave No indication of any issue.

6 When I stated that I ran checks on both DVD Drives I did so by inserting CD and DVD disks but both Drives did Not open them and neither of drives appeared on File Explorer.

Can you help?

Aherlow.
