I have a Pavilion Power Desktop - 580-023w530, and replaced the original Toshiba Hard drive DT01ACA100 with a Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM008.
I used a recovery USB I previously created and the recovery process seemed to be completed.
When the computer restarted, I received the message that the recovery attempt failed and the details provided the error of "Incorrect Brand Name" .
I clicked F2 on the startup menu to run system diagnostics and the Hard drive passed.
I also did the recovery process a 2nd time using HP cloud recovery, but I received the same message in the end.
I don't know what else to do at this point to get out of the failed recovery message loop.

Hi,
The new HDD is equal to, or larger than the factory part so HP recovery should work. Did you replace or add any other internal component?
Only connect mouse, keyboard, and monitor when doing the HP recovery.
You can clean install W10 Home 64 bit as a last resort. Go here (Link) to download and create W10 USB installation media.
Boot to the media. Select Custom. Select I don't have a product key. Windows will activate post installation when the PC is connected to the network.
Delete existing partitions. Follow prompts to install W10.
You can get drivers and some HP software at this site (Link) if this is your PC (580-023w).
