Omen Obelisk
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My brand new Omen Obelisk gives me recurring (intermittent) I/O errors when attempting to access (brand-new) external hard drives: "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." This happens roughly 50% of the time.

Please, don't insult my intelligence by telling me this is caused by corrupted external drive. Every troubleshooter--live or virtual--I've asked about this problem has insisted it's a bad external HDD.  I know this is nonsense, because I have already swapped out FOUR (4) brand new external hard drives (one Western Digital 2TB and three Seagate 8TB), because of these constant, recurring I/O errors.

I was in denial, because I like my Omen, and I didn't want to believe there was anything wrong with it. But there is clearly something wrong with it. I'm in a middle of a massive digital restoration project, and I can't access my external drives, which is beyond unacceptable. A brand new HP Omen Obelisk and a brand new Seagate 8TB external HD should work swimmingly right out of the box, but my Omen apparently doesn't like to play with other devices.

Aside from returning the machine and asking for my money back, what are my options? I'm out of patience and at my wits' end.
