Microsoft Windows 11

System Firmware on Device manager displays and Exclamatory mark or (Yellow) Warning sign, when the user clicks on the System firmware, the system displays Code 14 and displays an error message stating -

Device cannot work properly until you restart the computer. (Code 14)

Click Restart Computer to restart your computer.

I have run all the updates and restarted my computer many times but the error is still there.

Hi Elohi,

I had already checked all updates, which the HP Assistant said that there weren't any.

I ended up finding the BIOS driver, downloaded  and installed it, and it fixed the problem.

Thanks, KKP457.

Hi @KKP457,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

When you see a yellow exclamation mark under Other devices, that indicates drivers are not installed properly.

If you have any issues with devices then you may want to update drivers:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
