Upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11-- Not able to support Secure Boot

Am in the process of trying to update my PC (Hp Pavillion Gaming Desktop 690-0034) from Windows 10 to Windows 11. I meet all of the requirements, except for the availability of Secure Boot. I have already entered my BIOS setup to try and troubleshoot this issue, and when I had turned off the Legacy system to enable Secure Boot, I was met with a message that said "Boot device not found please install an operating system..." etc. 

I am wondering if there is any troubleshoot to solving this issue or if I am stuck on Windows 10 with my current hardware setup.

You can't enable secure boot with Legacy mode enabled.

It sounds to me like Windows is installed in Legacy mode if you got a boot device not found error when you disabled Legacy mode.

So the first thing to do is to determine if Windows is installed in legacy mode:

Type: System Information

The System information app should show up.

Run the app and look for the BIOS Mode line about 1/4 of the way down on the report.

The BIOS mode line should be UEFI in order to enable secure boot.

If the BIOS mode line shows Legacy, watch this video for how to convert the drive from MBR to GPT so you can disable legacy mode and enable secure boot.

Back up any personal files first to a portable hard drive before doing this just in case.
