How do I get  the smartphone charger on the pc base to work?

@Rodger38 -- most USB ports receive power only when the computer is powered-on, but there are some computers that have an "always-on" USB port. So, it is likely that your smart-phone will get recharged only when the computer is powered-up.

Thanks for your reply, however the phone charger is a plate built into base of pc so not a USB type.

@Rodger38 -- what type of smart-phone do you have?  Does it support recharging by physically placing it on a recharging plate?

Hi, answer is yes - S21 Ultra

@Rodger38 -- this seems to be your phone:  https://www.samsung.com/ca/smartphones/galaxy-s21-ultra-5g/

with a description:

Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 gives you a quick power-up, without the cable.

Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 at 10W or higher is currently available
with Wireless Charger Stand (EP-N5200) and Wireless Charger Duo Pad (EP-P5200).

Wireless Chargers sold separately.

Other wireless chargers compatible with WPC support wireless charging under 5W.

Actual charging speed may vary depending on the actual usage, charging conditions and other factors.

Wireless charger requires power connection.

I have put the key sentence into a bold font.

My question is whether your specific charging-plate has WPC support. I don't know.

Is this your PC: HP Pavilion All-in-One - 27-d0005na Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

I do not see any information about any "base charger".
