hp pavillion

yes i was trying to update my computer to windows 8.1 but it said i needed to update windows first before i install windows 8.1. which i started to download the windows update and i was waiting for it to get to 100% and reset but then it came to a screen that said failure confuring windows update reverting changes do not turn off your computer. can anybody help me I need to start on my college work.I gladly appreciated it if anybody can help me out and get it up and running

Milli85, welcome to the forum.


When requesting help you should always include the make/model (i.e. p6-xxxx) of the computer and/or monitor. This information is necessary for us to review the specifications of them.

As old_geekster has mentioned, knowing the make and model of your computer would help to better assist you.


Your Windows updates must be up do date before attempting to update to Win 8.1


Suggest that you run the Windows Update Troubleshooter for the OS that is currently installed now from Microsoft, probably this one if it Windows 8:


When trying to install Windows Update, install them in batches of 5 to avoid fustration.  If one update is causing the problem, you will see it.  Depending on which one it is you may be able to hide it.
