Since info is limited on what/how is being tried, I have to assume certain things.  If you wish to replace the Windows 10, then the SSD needs to be cleaned up.  There is probably not room on the SSD for a dual boot scenario, what have you actually tried?

What media is this new OS residing on?  If USB, then the boot order needs to be changed in the BIOS to allow the PC to boot from the USB, it will not do that without some user interaction.

The best way to try booting to the USB media is:

Start tapping the Esc key BEFORE starting the PC and then press the start button.
Keep tapping the Esc key until a popup menu shows. Then pick F9 from that pop-up menu.  If the USB is/was created to boot to, it should show up as a bootable source in this screen.  When selecting the USB as the boot source, it should then proceed to load the first screens once the user tells the boot process to start.

FYI: some Linux ditros will allow the user to run the Linux as a "Live" version instead of installing.  It might be a good idea to at least try that first, to see how this PC will preform under the new OS.  That is assuming you can get this far.
