I bought an HP Pavillion with Vista Home Edition in 12/08. I did not receive a single disk with my computer. I called HP and they said they dont send disk anymore. What I want is a rescue disk for my computer in the event that I should need one. Can someone lead me to way I can get or download one. I tried one site using a torrent file and it says my isp wont run with it. Im lost and not real sharp with this stuff.

What model PC are you using? You should be able to burn a set of recovery disks using the HP Recovery Disk Creation.
Start Button -> Programs -> Recvoery Manager -> Recovery Disk Creation. You may need up tp 10 CDs or (3 DVD+R disks if your PC and the version of recovery manager will burn to DVDs). Use a quality media like Verbatim. Don't buy the cheap stuff.
The other thing that you might be able to do is to Go to PC Help and Tools -> Hardware Diagnostic Tools and burn a bootable diagnostic disk. This is not a repair disk.

My computer is a HP Pavillion a65541. I can make a recovery disk but I was wanting what I think they call a rescue disk or start up disk that has diagnostic tools on it in case of a virus or it crashes??

The HP recovery disk will restore your system back to a factory fresh state. If you can't download the VISTA bit torrent then try a friend's PC. You can always buy a VISTA or Windows 7 license worse case.

You can make the "rescue disk" while in Vista if that is desired or it can be found on the internet, your choice. If you wish to make it from Vista, see here: http://thinkabdul.com/2007/09/30/howto-create-port
You will see this statement about half way down in the article.
Starting from Windows Vista SP1, you can go to Start—>All Programs—>Maintenance and click on “Create a Recovery Disc”. Alternatively, you can launch the program from “%systemroot%\system32\recdisc.exe” and follow the wizard. The process takes about 5 to 10 minutes and requires the original Windows installation media and a blank CD/DVD.
