@RajuMach, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP Smart Tank 720 printer displays an 'Out of Paper' message or does not feed paper during print, copy, fax, or scan jobs, follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
1. Check the Paper and Reload It
Paper feed problems might be due to poor quality paper, or using ripped, dusty, curled, or wrinkled sheets. Follow these guidelines:
- Use only good quality paper that matches printer specifications.
- Store paper in a dry, cool place to prevent humidity-related issues.
- Avoid using paper that has already been printed on, as the dampness can cause sheets to stick together.
- Ensure to wait until the printer completes a job or shows the 'Load paper in tray' message before adding more paper.
Steps to Reload Paper:
Slide out the paper-width guides and remove the stack of paper from the input tray.
Remove any severely bent or torn paper from the stack.
Check for obstructions inside the input tray.
Hold the stack evenly and tap it on a flat surface.
Insert it back into the tray, and adjust the paper-width guides until they touch the paper edges.
2. Clean the Paper Rollers in the Input Tray
Dust and debris on the rollers can affect paper feed. Use the items below for cleaning:
- A lint-free cloth or swab
- Distilled, filtered, or bottled water (avoid tap water)
Cleaning Steps:
Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
Remove the input and output trays.
Dampen a swab in distilled water, then press against the rollers, rotating them away from you with your fingers to remove dust buildup.
Reinsert the output tray.
Reinsert the input tray.
Allow the rollers to dry for 10-15 minutes.
Plug in the power cord and turn on the printer.
3. Reset the Printer
If the issue persists, perform these steps:
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is turned on.
- Unplug the power source and wait for 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord securely and turn on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
