Hi:

I received the same message and it is not spam, as all I own are HP business PC's.

It is not applicable to your PC.

Perhaps you own another HP business-class PC, or once did?

It is not "spam", nor "scareware", nor malicious software.

There is a security-vulnerability in the version that is currently-installed on your computer, and this update fixes that problem.

If your home-computer is connected to a multi-port wired-and-wireless, router (and the router is connected to the Internet), then only a compromised computer inside your "home-network" can exploit the vulnerability.

So, unless one of those computers is infected, your computer cannot be infected.

If your home-computer is connected directly to a DSL-modem or cable-modem, and that modem has only one "output" Ethernet port, your computer is vulnerable to an attacker on the Internet.  So, in that case, you should apply this update.

No, never owned a business pc, but I bought mine off ebay and the spec is very 'business-like'. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I was worried about infecting the pc as there is so much rubbish around these day.

Thank you . I'll install it as it can't do any harm now that the replies assure me that it is safe. Thanks for taking the time to answer my query.

You're very welcome.
