After a recent update at shutdown, when I restart my computer it hangs on the initial blue screen with the hp logo. I hit the esc key many times to go into setup and nothing happens. What can I do to possibly enter safe mode and restore my system to the way it was prior to the recent update?

Hi there @kencl65,

May the Forums be with you!  I understand that you are unable to start your system properly after a recent Windows update.  I am happy to give you a hand with this.

Please see this document that has a process you can follow that cover s the situation of starting and hanging at the HP Logo: HP Desktop PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 10,8), and also covers System Restore and  Recovery.

Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.
