Hi

Make full and complete backups.

Check the availability of drivers for your hardware.

Make a DVD/USB with the new OS on, and have a Licence/Key.

ISO images of various Microsoft OS's are available.

They can be be downloaded (sometimes you need a licence key other than the HP OEM key)
and 'burnt'/expanded to a DVD/USB. They WONT contain appropriate HP software, like drivers etc.
But may enable a repair to be started.

if in doubt please ask.

Your computer: HP TouchSmart 600-1350 Desktop PC Product Specifications

Product number: BT554AA

Introduction date: 30-Aug-2010

Country/region sold in:

  • Canada
  • United States

 is an "antique".

HP states that they have not tested any HP computer manufactured before August 2013 for compatibility with Windows 10.

That does not mean that Windows 10 will not run -- Microsoft could have included support for your computer into Windows 8 (or 10).

Presumably, your disk-drive is at least 8 years old -- putting it "out-of-warranty" for at least the most-recent 6 years.

So, the choice is yours:

  • spend almost $100 to purchase a replacement "in-warranty" disk-drive, and spend over $100 to purchase a copy of Windows 10, and keep your "antique" running for a while;
  • invest that $200 towards the purchase of a brand-new computer, with Windows 10 pre-installed.

I recommend the latter, given the "vintage" status of your hardware.

But, see: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

For free, you can download and install Windows 10, without entering a product-key.

This will give you a "time-limited" version of Windows 10, so that you can "test-drive" Windows 10, for a few days.

If you like the result, then you can purchase a product-key from the Windows Store.
