HO 7525 not saving scans to High Sierra IOS

HP Recommended
HP 7525
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

My computer will scan the item on the scanner bed but will not let me save the scan. How can I save the scan and edit it to the right format?

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

From the Applications folder move the HP Scan application to the trash and empty the trash.

Next, install and use HP Easy Scan below:

Hello,

I understand you are not sure how to save scans in Mac OS? Don't worry we have documentation that shows how to scan.

https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/c04788799

You can follow this document to learn how to scan to a folder on your computer. You can use Image Capture which comes with the computer. This information is in the section for "Other scanning apps or methods available ".

Scan with Apple Image Capture

Apple Image Capture comes with macOS and OS X and provides a quick and simple way to scan a document or photo.
Figure : Apple Image Capture
 Apple Image Capture
  1. Place the document or photo printed side down on the scanner glass, and then close the scanner lid.
If your printer has an automatic document feeder (ADF), you can use it to scan multiple page documents at one time. Do not load photos in the ADF to prevent damage to the photos and the printer.
  2. Open Finder , click Go in the top menu bar, click Applications, and then double-click Image Capture.
  3. Click your printer name in the Devices or Shared list.
       NOTE:
If a Software for this device is not installed message displays after you select your printer, click Install, and then follow the instructions to complete the installation.
  4. Click Show Details at the bottom of the screen.
A preview of the scan displays, and then change any of the following settings:
    • Scan Mode: Select the scanning bed or automatic document feeder, depending on where you loaded the original on the printer.
    • Kind: Set scan as color, black and white, or optimized for text only documents.
    • Resolution: Higher resolution produces better quality images by using more dots (pixels) per inch. Higher resolution increases the file size of the scan. Use a higher resolution for scans with graphics or items that require the best detail. If you are scanning black and white text, higher resolution is not necessary.
    • Size: Use a standard paper size, or select the Use Custom Size option.
    • Scan to: Select the folder you want scans to save to, or use the Mail option to attach the scan to an Apple Mail email message.
    • Name: Type a name for the saved scan file.
    • Format: Select the file type for the scan.
         NOTE:
To save multiple page documents or multiple images into a single file, select the PDF or TIFF format, and then select the box next to Combine into single document. This feature is only available with these formats.
    • Image Correction: Click the pop up menu, and then select Manual to display color change options such as brightness and saturation.
  5. Click Scan.

You can also install HP Easy Scan and follow the steps provided in the article to scan with that software if preferred.

The High Sierra OS is a recent change. I belie e gthat is the roblem. HPO does not seem to have any new software to  transition the 7525 to the new platform. The app you suggested has very low reviews with users. I am hesitant to use it. Some scans do eventually appear in the Downloads folder but its hard top find them. Also n ot possible to edit before they are scanned anymore. Looks like it is easier to scan from the printer than from the computer at this point. I need high res scans for my artwork and so need to be able to edit!

Hello,

Did you follow the previously provided link ? It shows multiple ways to scan to a Mac. It shows how to use Image Capture which is built-in with Mac OS or using HP Easy Scan. Scanning has not changed on a Mac with the OS update.

It shows how to select the destination folder. Once the file is saved on the computer you can then edit the file.I've used Image Capture for years on a Mac and it works without an issue.

If you mean the version of HP Easy Scan installed won't launch after upgrading to High Sierra you can go the Applications folder and drag HP Easy Scan to the trash and empty the trash. Then go to the Mac App Store and download for free.

Here's a video on how to scan with Image Capture.

Thank you  I have had time to do as you suggest and i did find the Image Capture overrode the unsavable document command.
