I had a friend give me a WD Black m.2 drive. I have updated the bios and chipset . No matter what I do it will not show  up in windows or the BIOS. What am I doing wrong here? Is this drive even compatible with my board? Thank you for any help

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

This is a great place to get support, find answers to your technical queries.

I understand that SSD is not getting detected, need not worry I'll be glad to assist you.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Did you try any alternate SSD and check if it's working?

I did check the service guide of your desktop, I see that there are two M.2 slots try the SSD in the other slot and check if this works.

If the SSD is not working on the second slot it could be a faulty SSD.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Have a great day!

I only have one, but I know it works because it was working when my friend pulled it from his computer and gave it to me.

The other slot is not an M key so that isnt an option

Thanks for the reply,

This was the slot which I was referring to.

Please check if the SSD you have matches the slot.

Have a great day!

Cheers:)
