I have a HP Pavilion 511N, how can I connect it to a mordern laptop or monitor

So I have a chrome laptop just bought it this year and a HP Pavillion All in One (desktop) (could I view it on that) or would the laptop be the better choice. Also would I need a VGA to USB convertor to do that to either (new) device.  I need to access the word files on they UPC

As I understand you want information on connecting an old desktop to either the laptop or a monitor,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details: 

If I understand this right, you want to access the files on the desktop by connecting it to the laptop, if yes, I must say that the laptop cannot be connected to a desktop, as the laptop has an video output, not an input.


That said, you should be able to connect the desktop to any monitor via VGA or DVI and access the files on the desktop, if its still working.
