HP Laptop PC 15s-fq2000 (2D119AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I purchased an HP Laptop 15s-fq2000 that came with pre-installed Microsoft Office (Home & Student). However, I had been using my college Microsoft account for the past few years. Now that my college account is deactivated, I am trying to activate Office with my personal Microsoft account, but it shows as an unlicensed product and asks for a product key.

I checked:

Microsoft Account Services – No Office license found.

HP Support Assistant & Software & Drivers – No Office license listed.

Laptop bottom sticker & packaging – lost the packaging box, is there something at the laptop bottom??

Request:

Can you help verify whether my laptop originally came with a permanent Office Home & Student license and, if so, how I can retrieve the activation key or redeem the license?

@Jahnviii, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Microsoft product key!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

HP laptops that come with pre-installed Microsoft Office (Home & Student) usually have a digital license tied to the first Microsoft account used for activation. Since your college account was previously used, the license would have been associated with that account, and it won’t transfer automatically to a new personal account.

Regarding the product key, HP does not provide or store Office product keys separately. However, Microsoft typically does not issue physical keys for pre-installed Office versions; instead, they use digital entitlement linked to your Microsoft account. Since your Microsoft account services page doesn’t show the license, it’s likely that Office wasn’t activated under your personal account or that the pre-installed version was a trial.

To explore possible solutions, I recommend checking this HP community post, which explains how to locate your digital licenses:

If Office was indeed pre-installed as a full version and you’re unable to retrieve the license, you may want to reach out to Microsoft Support directly, as they manage activations and licensing.

Let me know if you need further assistance! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
