HP Pavilion 590-p0036
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was running low on space on my SSD, so I looked at the programs installed to see what I could get rid of. Thinking HP was an old printer that I don't have anymore, I mistakenly and, yes, stupidly uninstalled all the programs that started with HP. Later I realized that I DO have an HP computer. Things I was doing on the computer still worked but was a lot slower.  My question is if there is any way to get all those programs back? Or am I really messed up and will have to live with it? I'm not a novice but certainly not an expert at computer stuff...

And how do I know what I can get rid of when I don't even know what a lot of them are?

That model is eligible for the HP Cloud Recovery Tool, where you can reinstall everything like it was.  The problem with that is it may/will also overwrite all of the data.

Since that is not a newer computer, the Windows OS will need to be updated, also.

Just an FYI: the specs list the SSD as a 128 GB SATA M.2 SSD.  If you are going to go thru all of that, you might want to also make the SSD bigger and then tell Windows where to store things, so the SSD does not fill up as quickly.

Thank you for the help! I will definitely look into doing this. Hopefully I can figure it out. I appreciate your response.

What do you mean by "it may/will also overwrite all of the data."  ?

When you reinstall Windows, the regular Windows install media will ask if you wish to do a custom or regular install.  A regular install will overwrite all of the data on the hard drive.  So it will be lost.  Since the PC still works, it would be wise to backup all of your data (pictures, documents etc) to an external media so you can retrieve them after the PC is up and running again.  You can either leave it on the external media or copy and paste it back to the places it belongs once Windows is done and you have verified everything is working properly and everything has updated.

Don't forget to read how to train Windows on where to save data that I linked in my first reply.
