A couple of weeks ago my old HP laptop had enough and died. I went to the store and bought this model of laptop with a warranty. The laptop blue-screened the second time I opened it. I returned it and got the laptop I am on now. Last week when turning it on, it blue screened. Today when turning it on it blue screened again. This is very frustrating and I have nothing downloaded that is causing a blue screen.
Furthermore, the event viewer read
"The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID. This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool." It also read "The previous system shut down unexpectedly"

That is a common error for COM. I see that frequently and it can be ignored IMHO.
Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on and press F2 to run diagnostics.
Do not allow any updates if disk or memory fail, especially a BIOS update.
Run the HP support assistant and check for updates.
Do the windows updates.
If the problem continues to happen then return or exchange it.
