I watched a video how to install the BIOS update. I followed the steps and download the 2018 BIOS. A0.59 Rev.A which is file sp85454.exe. I ran it. It started fine, I accepted the terms, saw a green bar flash for half a second and then nothing more happened. According to the video, the HP System BIOS Update Utility should have appeared. It did not appear. Researching online, I think the file is BiosConfigUtility.exe. When I run it from Explorer, it starts and wants me to accept the program is able to make changes to Windows. I click yes and then nothing. It just goes away. The date of the file is from Jan 2016. I figured I would download a more current version. But, shockingly, I cannot find it on the Internet anywhere.
Since the HP site has two BIOS updates listed for my serial number, I downloaded the 2019 version next. sp96665.exe. I ran it. I got a prompt. Seeing a message that my device is not compatible with this update, I did not do anything further.
Anyone know how I can update my 2016 BIOS? Should I go to AMI instead?

Playing around with BIOS is the shortest way to brick your machine. The site shows 2 SSID's. Did you use SSID of your machine ?

After this BIOS update has been installed, previous BIOS versions cannot be reinstalled.

Click the Download Only button.
2. At the File Download screen, click the Save button.
3. At the Save As screen, save the file to your Desktop.
4. If a message appears stating that the file already exists, click YES to overwrite file.
5. Double-click the icon to download the update to your desktop, and then click NEXT.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions.
7. If prompted to restart the system upon completion of the update, click YES and allow system to restart.

And don't use a non-HP bios
