Question about HP Care Packs

I wanted your opinion of the HP Care Pack. I was offered the following options for my new PC that I purchased for $350 from Best Buy.  The 2/3 years iare counted as 1/2 years  after the first year warranty.


2 years without accidental coverage :  $169.99

2 years with accidental coverage: $199.99 


3 years without accidental coverage :  $189.99

3 years with accidental coverage: $209.99 (full refund if no hardware repairs are made for 3 years)


Given that I would be happy  if I can use my PC for 3 years without any hardware failures, is it worth to invest almost 2/3 of the cost of my PC into a warranty?

You’ve done an excellent job on diagnosing the issue from your end. Superb effort and spectacular research were done as well. 🙂 Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 . I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂


For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you contact HP shopping or HP phone support to find out how the warranty works?

For now, let me explain a few facts to you.

  • Electronics is always unpredictable. Despite stringent quality checks it could fail.
  • It is best to have extended warranty with accidental damage protection.
  • Liquid could be spilled or if the computer is a notebook it could be dropped.
  • Just like a human being has medical insurance to be protected from unforeseen exigencies a computer’s extended warranty with ADP (accidental damage protection) takes care of unforeseen circumstances.
  • There are 2 kinds of warranties. One is a store warranty and the other is the HP extended carepack warranty.
  • I would suggest that you contact HP phone support to get more information about HP warranties and purchase one that best suits your current requirements and budget.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

  • (1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
  • (2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
  • (3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
  • (4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
