Hello Paul. I and my son have done all the steps as per your advice. Now we’re at the stage where we have connected the recovery flash drive with the affected desktop. We’ve done the steps of pressing windows +B and the power button. The system seems to be responding but the screen has not responded yet. It’s still black for the past 20 minutes. Is this normal? How long do you think it will take to get to the next stage? Thank you

Hi:
Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to your question.
If you have a desktop PC, then you shouldn't have to press any keys.
You only press the windows +B keys with notebook PC's.
After you create the USB BIOS recovery drive, follow the instructions that show up after the USB recovery drive has been successfully created.
1. Power off the device to be recovered.
2. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port.
3. Power on the device.
4. The device may reboot up to 3 times with indicator lights on the keyboard flashing, or the screen appearing blank for short time.
