It looks like you were interacting with @DavidSMP, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,

I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.

I suggest you hold on to the downgrade as you don't seem too satisfied with the workaround, that said, here is the list of softpaqs that should help your cause, depending on your product,
I recommend you try downloading them one after the other to check which works:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71708.exe
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp67001-67500/sp67280.exe
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78001-78500/sp78033.exe

Here's the latest version of the 3D drive guard software:

Receives notifications from the integrated accelerometer and automatically parks the hard drive to reduce the risk of damage if the PC is accidentally dropped.

Click here to download and install (sp77869)

Let me know how that pans out

Hi @monkeydunk,

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case relating issues with the accelerometer driver not being compatible with the new Windows build. brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did you try to uninstall the driver from device manager completely and try to install it from the recovery manager?

For a start please try these steps:

Please uninstall the accelerometer driver from device manager and delete the software for the device.

  • Then restart the computer and try to install the driver from recovery manager from this link: http://hp.care/2sGgxLM and check if this does the trick for you.
  • If this does not work, then please go back to the previous Windows build by following these steps from this link: http://hp.care/2uyw5Hc and later install the accelerometer drivers as a last resort.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

Your rollbadck trick is for previous windows. I only have windows 10 on my computer and when they upgraded it to a different version (without asking} that is when the HP accelerometer became not compatible. So if I rollback to the last version of win 10, what is to prevent themfrom uprading it again?
