@burdo

VCR and DVD are two different technologies using 2 different formats. You need

(a) Covert VCR to digital format first,

(b) Convert digital format to DVD format then burn to DVD.

Can your USB kit transfer tapes to digital format  (such as avi, mp4 ...) and do you have any software on your computer which can convert avi, mp4 ... to DVD format and burn ?

The following article is a good start

Few year back, I actually transferred old VHS tapes to digital format but I did not burn to DVD because my computers, my TV's and my PVR can play AVI, MP4, MKV ... files.

Regards.

@burdo,

BH makes an excellent point.  His references does point out the copyright rules.  But, if these are owned by you, and are copyrighted, you can still copy to DVD. Just follow this article.  It is step by step.
