Adding video card

HP Recommended
Pavilion Slimline s5-1020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Older computer with a single VGA connection.  Would like to add an additional graphics card.  Anything I need to know before I make a purchase?

@ddmorris987,

If you have a discrete video card installed on the computer then the integrated or onboard video card will not work.

You need to connect both the monitors to the video card on the computer.

@ddmorris987,

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want to install a video card on your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I checked the specifications of your computer and see that there is one PCI Express x16 slot available on the motherboard and you can install any graphics card with this interface.

Having said that, the important thing to note here is the form factor of the graphics card. You need to make sure that the graphics card you are purchasing fits inside the computer correctly as you have a slimline computer.

I hope that answers your question and you have a great day!

I purchased a 2GB HP nVidia GT635 HDMI DVI PCI-Express x16 video card which appears to be working, however, the only monitor that my system detects is the HDMI monitor I have plugged into the new card.  It does not see the original VGA monitor still plugged into the original card.  Any ideas what I need to do?
