I have an older (2014 I think) HP pavilion 23 all in one and I’m trying to connect a second monitor. The monitor only mirrors the all in one. The all in one doesn’t even find the second monitor, I’ve installed drivers, updated the video card ( Amd E2- 3800 W/Radeon HD). I’m at a total loss of how to get the second monitor to be an extension of my AIO.

I am using VGA to USB adapter - I installed the drivers for it and did everything like I was supposed to. It’s supposed to automatically recognize it. I have also installed a 3rd party software to try and get that monitor recognized. (Auto Multiple Monitor thing)

please help!

What is your HP pavilion 23 all in one ?

HP has many different AIO machines

  • Some have no HDMI port at all,
  • Some have HDMI in only,
  • Some have HDMI out only,
  • Some have both.

You need HDMI out port to connect to an external monitor. Please use the following way to find out what is your machine:

I have a 23 G010 and as far as I can tell all I have is USB ports that’s why I bought the vga to usb connector. It came with drivers I installed but it’s still not recognized as a monitor

It does not have any HDMI port. You need USB adapter which is Displaylink Certified to be able to connect to an external monitor. There are some on the following list
