HP ENVY All-in-One 27-b1XX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have 2 HP Envy All-in-One 27-b1xx, one that I use and the other is my wife's.  We are both experiencing occasional dimming on our monitors.

The dimming on my monitor occurs just about every day and usually in the morning about 30-45 minutes after startup.  The dimming on my wife's computer occurs occasionally but not as frequenly as on mine.

We are able to adjust the brightness with the function key on the keyboard.

It's just annoying.  I have contacted HP Support and they suggest that I do a fully system recovery.  I find that suggestion odd seeing that it's a monitor problem.

Welcome to HP Support Community

I suggest you keep both computers under observation in BIOS and let me know if the displays are dimming

Shut down the computer and upon restarting keep tapping on F10 till you see the System Configuration Menu ( BIOS )

Keep me posted 😊

Krazy Toad,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "keep both computers under observation in BIOS".

Do I just wait until the System Configuration Menu shows up and then just watch it?

Thanks

John

Just leave the computer on the BIOS screen and check after sometime to see if the display is dimming or not.

If the display is dimming in BIOS then it's a Hardware issue with the screen

I have tried on many occasion to have the monitor on the BIOS screen and no dimming happened.

The dimming occurs every day approximately 30 to 60 mins after start up.  After that It's fine for the rest of the day.

It's just very annoying.

Can you suggest anything else?

Thank you

Since the dimming did not occur in BIOS, then this is likely to be a driver issue

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Sorry for not replying sooner.  I have HP Support Assistant installed.  All my updates are up to date.

I have discovefred one consistent problem and that is that the dimming occurs at 6:00 AM every single day.  i am an early riser and that is why I have been able to notice that it the dimming occurs at the same time every day.  It does not occur at any other time.

I've also carried out all types of tests suggested by HP and all completed as OK.

So, that's where I stand right now.  Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I have found the event that happens every morning at 6:00 AM.  Please see the screen shot.6 AM Event.jpg

Since all the Hardware Tests passed and the dimming issue does not occur in BIOS, at this point I would request you to perform a Reset
