@John287

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Is it windows update or Bios update?

What is the operating system?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps:

  1. Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.

  2. Press and hold the Windows key and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the Power button for 2 to 3 seconds.

  3. Release the Power button but continue pressing the Windows and B keys. You might hear a series of beeps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi My screen goes black for about 2-3 seconds every 30-50 seconds. This has occurred ever since I purchased the computer. Can you advise me how to fix the computer? I have one month before the warranty runs out . Do you think I should use the warranty to replace the computer?

@Allan46

Thank you for posting back.

  • Have you tried connecting your computer to an external monitor or TV?

If its a software or operating system related issue we can fix this without shipping the unit in for repair.

Try performing BIOS default settings if your computer stays on.

BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
