Black screen of death

The only recent change I did was getting windows 10 a couple months ago. But a couple days ago, I turned on my pc and it said “performing automatic repair” then the screen just shut off. The thing is that the PC itself I still on but the screen is black with no cursor.

The best way to get out of the Windows Automatic Repair loop is to disable early launch anti-malware protection. You can do this from Command Prompt in the Windows Boot Options menu which will begin to appear after your restart your computer several times.

1) Navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings. Your computer will restart then present you with a list of options.

2) Choose "Disable early launch anti-malware protection".

3) Restart your PC and check if you can boot into Windows.

If it refuses to boot to the desktop, then you'll need to go into the boot menu.

Start tapping ESC then turn the unit on. When the blue menu comes up, tap F11 for system recovery.

In the menu, see if you can select a restore point, or reset PC or run a full HP recovery (under advanced) if keeping data is not an issue.
