Can't clear a "USB-C unqualified cable" message on a ENVY 27" monitor

HP Recommended
HP ENVY 27"
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

just plugged a device into the USB-C port on the back panel of my 27" Envy monitor, only to charge it.

I get a permanent message that reads:

"Caution - An unqualified USB-C cable has been detected. Please use a qualified HP cable bla bla bla"

Obviously not going to by another cable just for that. But the message won't go away, the control buttons are disabled and a power cycle does not do the trick.

Does anyone know how to clear that message, other than unplugging the said cable?

Thanks

Hi Jeet,

thank you for your answer.

I fail to understand how a cable can be "more powerful than the one I have". I'm guessing you are talking about it's power rating.

I forgot to mention in the initial post that the setup works perfectly as is, so the cable and adaptor are fine.

In the meantime, the error message cleared after about a day...

So I guess the solution is: just wait!

Best,

Hi Jeet,

the issue was not sorted out, it just went away.

I do not have a concern with the cable. As I stated, the setup is working fine.

And you did not include any link.

Overall not a super helpful conversation, if I may.

I'll just let this be. Spent enough time on such a minor issue already.

Best,

Quentin
