Hello!
1. Chromebook is charged.
2. I boot up the Chromebook, but I only see a flickering from Charcoal Screen to Black Screen changing every second.
3. After a few minutes of inactivity I only see a Black Screen. When pressing the Power Button it goes back to Flickering as in 2)
I can make the Charcoal Screen lighter and brighter by using the keys above 8 and 9, but that is about it.
Any suggestions what the problem is and how to solve it? Thank you!

Hi @Lars2000,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing some issues with your Chromebook's display. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.
- Perform a hard reset: Disconnect the charger, remove any external devices, and then press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the Chromebook turns off. Then release the power button and turn it on again.
- Adjust the display brightness: As you mentioned, you can make the screen lighter and brighter using the keys above 8 and 9. Adjust the brightness to a comfortable level and see if it resolves the flickering issue.
- Check for external display issues: If you have connected an external display or monitor to your Chromebook, disconnect it and see if the issue persists. Sometimes, issues with external displays can affect the built-in display as well.
- Update Chrome OS: Make sure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS. To check for updates, click on the system tray in the bottom-right corner of the screen, click on the gear icon to open the settings menu, select "About Chrome OS," and then click on "Check for updates."
- Powerwash your Chromebook: Performing a powerwash will reset your Chromebook to its factory settings. Before doing this, make sure to back up any important files or data you have on your device. To powerwash, go to the settings menu, select "Advanced," click on "Powerwash," and follow the on-screen instructions.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately it did not work. When the laptop turns on the screen is flickering from a black screen to a charcoal screen every 1-2 seconds, but I cannot see anything in order to update or do anything. Normally the first thing I would need to do is log in, but because I can't see the screen I can't get past that.
Any other suggestions?
Thank you!
Lars
