Hello everybody,

My computerscreen sometimes goes black for a couple of second and then turns back on.

Hi @Markvdberg,

Good Day.   Thank you for stopping by the HP forums. I reviewed the post regarding assistance to troubleshoot the display going black randomly. I will be glad to assist you here. 🙂

Superb description and splendid diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did this happen after a windows or software update? Do you remember?
  • Have you checked in the bios if this happens?

  • For a start please perform these steps.
  • Please perform a hard reset. Steps:
  • Please shut down the computer.
  • Please remove all the external cables and devices connected to the computer.
  • Then press and hold the power button of the PC for about 30 seconds to discharge static electrical changes inside the machine.
  • Please connect all the cables back to the computer.
  • Then please keep tapping the “Esc” key several times gently as soon as you power on the computer.
  • It brings up the startup menu.
  • Now please press the “F10” key to go to the bios.
  • Please leave the computer in the bios for some time to check if it blanks out and comes back on.
  • If it does it is a hardware issue with the computer.
  • If it does not continue troubleshooting by running the extensive hardware diagnostics and component tests from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-24-n000-all-in-one-desktop-pc-series-touch/8499715/mode... to eliminate any hardware failures. It takes 2 hours to run.

  • Once it is established that the computer hardware is fully functional and the diagnostics pass
  • Please perform these steps.
  • Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager.
  • In the Device Manager window, look for “Monitors”, then right-click your monitor and select “Uninstall”. Be sure to also check the “Remove driver” option. Once removed, click the “Scan for hardware changes” icon

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>Then make a note of the installed display adapter.
  • >then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphic drivers from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-24-n000-all-in-one-desktop-pc-series-touch/... and select the correct the operating system from this link before updating it.

Then please check if this does the trick for you.

If this does not work, please follow all prescribed the steps mentioned in this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-24-n000-all-in-one-desktop-pc-series-touch/8499715/mode... for further troubleshooting.

Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, please. Please note that I am not overloading you with a lot of troubleshooting steps.

Instead, just like you, I am eager to ensure that the problem gets resolved. So I am providing you with more resources and information at your disposal to deal with the situation better.

Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care now and have a superb week ahead. 🙂
