HP Pavilion 595-p0074
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My computer does play CDs but will not play DVDs. The album description appears but nothing else happens. I have followed several online suggestions (run diagnostics, reinstalled drive, enabled AutoPlay, found Cyberlink with WinQ but nothing there helped, and read a lot of online suggestions) but to no avail. When my computer recognized a DVD, it sent me to "Find New DVD app store" (only other option was "take no action") and listed lots of apps. Do I need to download one of these, and if so, which one? I don't need a new DVD player, just the one in my desktop to work. BTW, also have a Rodzon A11 External DVD Drive which I bought with the computer, and I get the same results with it.

Hi:

Since your PC came with a DVD from HP, they should have installed software that would play DVD's.

The only suggestion I can offer, would be to install the free VLC Media player and see if that will get the DVD's to play.

VLC - Microsoft Store Apps

Thanks!! I should have asked my question before spending hours trying to fix the problem myself. You answered promptly and your suggestion worked perfectly! I'm a happy person just now

You're very welcome.

Shame on HP for not including the DVD playing software on PC's that come with DVD's.

W10 does not have built in DVD playing software like W7 did.
