Desktop All-in-One Pavilion 23
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I know it's an old deskto, but still worked great until this morning.  It was working fine, then did a minor update that required a reboot.  It came back up and then kept shutting down.  I found a page that said to unplug everything, hold the power button for 15 second and then plug back in and restart.  Did this a few times.  The desktop now stays on (light is solid white and you can hear the fan going), however, the screen stays blank.

Any help would be appreciated on what to do and is it even worth it to get fixed?

Thanks.

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you run a System Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality first

- Shut down the computer completely
- Turn it back on, then tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup menu screen is displayed.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Click System Test > Extensive

If all the Tests pass, try a System Recovery using the Recovery Media.

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file inorder to install Windows operating system. Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)

Krazy Todd-

Thanks for the reply.  I have not gotten it to work, as I only have a wireless keyboard and mouse and the screen stays black whenever I power it back up.  However, I just got a keyboard and mouse, via USB, so I am going to try it again and will let you know.

Thanks for the help again.
