Driver causing problems, monitor is no longer recognized.

V14 14-inch Portable Display

Initially I plugged my Monitor to my laptop and it mirrored my screen. I downloaded the driver HP's website recommends for my product and now my laptop doesn't recognize it. I have tried removing the driver and restarting, but the screen remains black. 

What I am trying to figure out is how to expand my screen or even get my laptop to detect the monitor.

 

A friend tested my monitor and USB hub following the same instructions and it worked without a problem. So it must be something with the driver and/or my laptop. Please Help.

 

The laptop I am using is the HP Spectre x360.
