External HP screen on Macbook - Screen gets darker - Horizontal lines

If what is displayed on the HP screen is excessively dark, the screen itself becomes slightly darker and small horizontal lines become visible. A good example is YoutTube in dark mode. The screen was provided to me by work and as a designer it is a bit inconvenient to see distracting elements on the screen.

Is there a solution for this? Thanks for the help.
